Painting still-life watercolours can give amazing results. For most painters and would be painters this form of art is the simplest of them all but not many can do justice to the object or scene they are looking at especially when they are painting in water colours. It must be constantly kept in mind that finding the right composition is absolutely crucial to making a nice painting that grabs the essence of real life.

Before rushing to paint whatever you see; think. Deciding beforehand on what exactly you want to paint and then taking your time to analyse its beauty is absolutely crucial to create a nice watercolour painting. To start off, try creating a rough sketch of the lighter and darker areas of the painting. Learning still-life watercolours painting is not difficult. Whenever you join a watercolour painting class make sure that they cover the basics of colour, composition, drawing and shading.

Practice becomes perfect the saying goes and the same is true when painting still-life in water colours. It is best to constantly be paint simple scene first and then move on to more intricate ones. As you go along ask for feedback from your friends and other painters. This will help to improve your skills. When you become more skilled you may want to take snapshot of your best works on a R4 card so that you can look on them later.

Although watercolours themselves tend to be quite loose, learning the aforementioned skills is absolutely crucial for anyone willing to learn water colour painting. The practice techniques will help you to blend and shade water colours even better and allow you to paint the still-life pictures more easily. It is highly advisable that you use a matted acid-free board along with a knowledgeable framer.

Later on these matt paintings must be framed under glass to avoid any damage to them. Watercolour painting of a still-life can be quite exciting and open a new world for anyone. <
